Committee

Menston Preschool is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and we require a committee in order to operate. The Preschool Committee is made up of a Board of Trustees.

Trustees are elected at an AGM (Annual General Meeting), which is held towards the end of September every year. Key Trustee roles are:

· Chairperson

· Secretary

· Treasurer

· Fundraising and Events coordinator

There will also be a maximum of nine other Committee Members.

Trustees perform the essential role of governing the setting. They ensure assets, employees and activities of Preschool are managed effectively to help it achieve its purpose; and to enhance the development and education of all the children that attend.

One of the most common reasons that people volunteer for the committee is because they find it rewarding to work for a good cause and to give something back to the local community. They get a sense of achievement and self-satisfaction in putting their particular skills, knowledge and expertise to good use. It is also a great way to meet like-minded people, make lasting friendships and forge links with the local community.

Families know their children’s needs best. When parents/grandparents/carers get involved in governing Preschool, they have the opportunity to shape the services we provide so that families get the early education that is right for them.
