The preschool day starts with a rolling drop off. Children are brought into the preschool foyer by parents or carers and handed over to one of our kind, experienced members of staff. Children go straight into preschool and with support, quickly learn to follow our morning routine. They put their lunch bags on a trolley and place water bottles in crate for access throughout the day. Children hang their coats up, wash their hands and then head off to explore and play.
Our ethos is ‘Learning through Play’, and children can independently access a wide range of continuous resources and activities. During the day small group or one to one teaching with an adult takes place as well as whole group activities such as stories and singing which are always extremely popular.
There is a free flow system in both our indoor and outdoor areas and the children can access the fantastic outside provision in all weathers. Coats and wellies are provided for days when the weather is not so good and on sunnier days there is plenty of shade available on the decking and under a large canopy in the main outside area.
A healthy snack and a drink of milk or water is offered during the morning session. Snack time and lunchtimes are always a buzz of chatter and provide a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their social and emotional skills and independence.
Children completing half days leave or arrive in the foyer at 12pm and are again supported by staff with this transition. Lunch takes place shortly after this and once everything is tidied away, we continue with the afternoon session which follows the same pattern as the morning.
When preschool finishes at 3pm children are handed out individually to their parents and carers who are waiting in the foyer.
